The project rethinks a former rooftop sculptor’s studio into a modern small home for a young couple – his grandchildren. The small area of the studio and the need to flow and overlap between the functions leads to the formation of a largely open plan in which the spaces flow into each other and are separated only when necessary. The design is simple and effective, with an emphasis on light and air. Central to the concept of the project is the desire to make the most of the volume of spaces that we found under the pitched roof of the building after removing the existing suspended ceilings, thus the ‚ceilingscapes‘ of domes culminating with a light panel delicately organizes the different living areas in the otherwise open plan.
